Custom properties

Sometimes you might want to give items in the scene more information than just physics characteristics. This can be done by adding custom properties to an item class, and then setting the property values as usual. The following classes can be given custom properties: A custom property can be one of these types: Custom properties are shown in yellow in the properties panel:

Custom property settings are saved in the .rube scene file, so each scene has its own set of custom properties.

In scenes where you have a large number of custom properties, many of those properties may not be relevant to the currently selected item, but they are still shown in the properties panel and can make the view cluttered. See the Customizing the properties panel topic for info on how you can show subsets of properties depending on what items are selected.

Differences to normal properties
Unlike normal properties, custom properties can be in an 'unset' state, meaning that no value exists for them. If you give empty input when editing a custom property, the value will become unset.
